Hi, Dwight! Welcome to our list!

I have a sideways interest in the Mondays -- my McCall ancestors came to

East Knox County about 1850. The family legend is that they were taken in

by members of the Monday family. We go to church with some of the Monday

family, and they knew of a distant connection also. I'd love to find out

that, somewhere in the Monday family, there's a diary or letter that will

give me some clues on these elusive people!!!

Welcome to our list, Leon! If my geography is right, your interests add to

the West Knox County group. There are still a lot of Shirleys living in

West Knoxville.

Hope you find some cuzzins among the list subscribers!

Welcome to our list, Anne! I've seen several people mention Lowe in the

past few days....hopefully, you'll find some cuzzins here!

Those of you who don't live in the area may not know this: in some parts

of Knox, Anderson, and Scott Counties, the surname Lowe is pronounced like

"how." I'm not sure how it started, but it's a quick way to figure out

which family someone descends from around here!

My Russells were Andrew and Margaret Christian Russell from Augusta Co VA.

They are buried at Dandridge Jefferson Co TN. Their daughter Rebecca married

James W Craig. She died in 1822 and is buried in the 1st Presbyterian

Churchyard in downtown Knoxville. Her sister Margaret Russell was 3rd wife of

Francis A Ramsey of the Ramsey House at Knoxville.

Was there a list printed? If so, could you reprint? I'm new and missed it.

1831 in Knox Co., Tn. Looking for parents of James. Sallie and James and

their family left in 1838 to settle in Polk Co., Missouri. James was a

Do any of the Russell researchers have in their files Joseph Taylor Russell

who married Martha Treece? Their children were: John Wesley Russell (1895)

who married Cora Brimer, Mary Russell, Sarah Russell, and ? Russell.

I'd like to add my names to all the others I've been reading today. I'm

interested in the family of Frederick Christian Warnack, and his wife

Elizabeth. They were my 4th great grandparents and from the little I

know about them, went from Pa., first to Greene Co.Tn, and then in about

1815, to Knox Co. Frederick owned a paper mill, in the Knoxville area.

One of their children, Isaac, who was my 3rd g-grandfather, married

Nancy Lonas, who was the daughter of Henry and Sybilla Lohnes/Lonas also

from Knox Co. I'd really appreciate any information about either one of

these families.
