Hi all--

I was born in Knoxville and now live just outside Winston-Salem, NC. I am

researching several TN families and have joined the DAR through James Henry

b. 1751 VA d. 1790 Blount Co. Surnames: HENRY, MCNABB, HATCHER, MCGINLEY,

MCCLAIN, REAGAN, KOUNTZ, etc.

I am also researching my Crockett line and my brick wall is William Crockett

m. Mary (Polly) Flesheart 1811. Surnames: CROCKETT, FLESHEART, WYSONG,

RENSHAW, MARLEY, WHITE, MCCLAIN, HIPKINS, MORGAN, WILCOX, etc.

Randy,

I see that you are researching the surname Peltier. Do you know anything

about a William (b.c1876) or Oscar (b.c1878) Peltier of Anderson County.

Their mother was Mary Elizabeth Ross and her second husband was Peterson M.

Liles a druggist in Clinton. William and Oscar are listed with Peterson and

Mary on the 1880 Census. It appears that none of Peterson and Mary's

children survived to adulthood but I wonder about the Mary's two boys.

Peterson is the son of my gg-grandfather James Liles.

Hello, my name is Kay Rodell. I joined the Knox Cty. web site about 10 =

months ago. I had only one clue of information on my great, great =

grandfather and grandmother(besides date of birth and death). I knew =

they were from Tn. Through the help of others, I located him on the =

1850 Knox County Census - Thomas G. BRITT- 16yrs of age.=20

Along with his father, Thomas G. Britt ( 48yrs - born in TN) mother, =

Sarah McCloud Britt (46yrs -born in Tn) brother Jame M. (20yrs) and =

sisters, Martha (12yrs) Louise E. (9yrs) . Also listed on the census =

with my Britts is an Issac LANE. I have no clue as to who he is. I =

learned from the marriage listings on this site, the maiden name of my =

Tom's mother MCCLOUD. The father and mother are listed on the 1860 =

census. And that is all I have. Where were they before 1850 ?? And =

where were the children after 1850?? =20

On the marriage list all names are found, and I have searched several =

databases for the siblings. No luck or clues. If the Thomas Britt on =

the marriage list is mine it shows he married a Martha CUNNINGHAM( =

6/7/1854).

But, I also know he married my great great grandmother Francis Evelyn =

DAVIS on 12/1/1878. She was also from TN. All I know of her is that =

she was from a wealthy family, and that when she married Thomas, her =

family disowned her. I dont know if it was because they felt he was =

beneath her or if it was the age difference and that he had been =

possibly married before???? He was 24 yrs older then Francis. They came =

to Texas by Wagon and Thomas died in 1885. Many Questions and Many =

Brick Walls!

Thomas G. BRITT - 10/16/1835 - 5/17/1885

Frances Evelyn DAVIS - born 1859 died 1946

I would appreciate any help, suggestions or clues. I noticed that Terri =

Jurca has MCCLOUD in her list of surnames. Hey Terri, could my Sarah be =

part of your bunch???? =20

=20

For all that help keep the =

site going ****THANK YOU****

Interesting side note, My son married in Dec. of 1998. I just found out =

this week that my daughter in law is a descendent of the MCCLUNG'S there =

in Knoxville. I have seen the name so many time on this list. I am =

getting with her mother this week to find out the exact relation. Just =

thought, it really is a small world.
