If you use a Mac or a UNIX/Linus machine, hit delete now <g>. If you use a PC, even if you don't use Outlook, it is probably installed on your computer as a result of having Windows there. Someone might come along one day and "borrow" your machine and use it. Either uninstall it or keep it patched. If you do use Outlook or Outlook Express, keep it updated! So, here's the scoop: MicroSatan <g> has announced a patch that repairs security holes in Outlook and Outlook Express. If you go here http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms00-043.asp you can read about it. If you need a half-gallon of Maalox to get through the info on that page, go here http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/fq00-043.asp ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Jul 2000 20:23:55 -0700 From: "Billie R. Sounds like you've got lots of early, early Knox County pioneer ancestors...and, you've got some overlaps with others on our list!

You went to school with my aunt's brother, the dashing YHS football star Dickie Tipton...I think he's a wee bit older than you, though. And you must've had my cousin, Miss Ruth Cate, as a teacher. She's still living, and still VERY interested in local and family history. Are your Graves the Graveston ones? If so, do you have some history of that part of the county you could share? Someone at the archives who overheard me say I was from Tennessee said, "You know, Davy Crockett's ancestors were from here." I responded, "Yeah right" under my breath, while smiling that southern belle smile we all do. Then he showed me! I don't know if it was any connection to the East TN Crocketts, but they sure were in Glamorgan! Now -- let's talk about the Koontzes...write to me off the list so we can compare notes! I could go on for hours about that...<g> Here is a list of Knox County's "parent" entities before statehood: - --Spanish crown (after de Soto and Pardo travelled through) - --French crown (the French got as far as Nashville, but they claimed they owned all the way to the Appalachian Mountains - --Cherokee tribal government - --A handful of other Native American tribes who claimed the area - --Lord Granville's Claim (potentially) from the English crown - --Western Lands of North Carolina - --Washington County, North Carolina - --Greene County, North Carolina - --Hawkins County, North Carolina - --Hawkins County, State of Franklin - --Knox County, Territory of the US South of the River Ohio - --Knox County, Tennessee (I hope I got them all -- I'm doing this from memory!) The list is longer for some of the other counties, like Hawkins and Unicoi, that formed late.
