Kay, The McClouds are one family I would love to find more on also. One of my Brown's married a James McCloud and I have not found out alot about him yet. I thought I would throw out what I have and maybe it will either help you or get some response or both. <grin> On 1850 Knox Co. Census: dwelling # 1413 James McCloud farmer 22 b. A posting on the McCloud GenForum by Gloria Davis states that James McCloud who settled in Knox Co., TN in the late 1780's was born in Scotland per his headstone. March 16, 1868 Levi McCloud conveyed to his son James McCloud a tract of land on Guesses Creek. Deed book J-3 pg 297. James and his wife Mary Ann sold to R. L. Have some estate documents Jan session 1801 from Knox Co. on a William McCloud, administrators were Elizabeth and James Mccloud. April 3, 1866, James McCloud gave on acre of land to the School Commissioners, to be used for a school or a house of worship. The land was to go back to James or his heirs if it ceased to be used for such. Witnesses were George Prior McCloud and James Marion McCloud. This was the Blooming Grove site. On Military Pension records for the Civil War it shows he served in Co I or J 13th Tn Cav.. It shows invalid filed Oct 20,1876 #226826-212.487. His widow filed April 8, 1890 $420053-288639 In TN. I don't know if I sent this a while back to this list, or another, so will do so again. I apologize if it is a repeat! Anyone with Windows should go to the Windows Update site: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and click on the Product Updates link. It will take a bit to load, but it reads your computer "without sending any info back to Microsoft" and then gives you a list of updates available accordingly, listing them as "critical", "recommended", and so on. One option, I think it is categorized as "recommended", is "Critical Update Notification". I highly recommend it! This program will automatically notify you whenever there is an update that Microsoft considers to be critical. With it, you are pretty assuredly kept up to date with any security patches they release. Tracy
