I bumped into this page with info about his descendants this morning: http://people.mw.mediaone.net/annebeth/aquilla.htm ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Jul 2000 22:31:53 EDT From: RMcgi81640@aol.com Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Hill's Anyone Hi List, Is any one out there working on a Hill Family in Knox or surrounding counties. I have a mystery grave for a Lucretia Hill April 22 1759 - October 22 1801. Here is the particulars of the grave site. Formerly located on Emory Road in North Knox County. The cemetery was located on Emory Road near the intersection with Bishop Road and was intact when copied in 1979. There was only one grave marker on the site at the time and there was no additional evidence of ohter marked or unmarked graves in the area. The cemetery was destroyed in the late summer of 1989 and the land was leveled for the building of Wilkerson Window Company. Property owners at the time denied any knowledge of graves on the site. The stone that was copied did not appear to have been an original marker as the style was not compatible to the type used in the early 1800's. There is another cemetery located on land adjacent to the property known as Booker-Hill Cemetery (B-40) that may contain relatives of this burial. Also the Mitchell Cemetery on Springvale Lane (M-287) contains Hill family graves. There are family plots on farms throughout this valley known as Beaver Creek and within sight distance of Sharon Baptist Church. Help me solve this mystery, SOMEONE PLEASE! Is anyone researching Doris Brown Yazlet, who lived in Park City and was the librarian and photo-retouch lady for Miller's Department Store 50+ years ago? Our own Robert McGinnis did some research for me when I discovered a bookplate (http://www.public.usit.net/auctions/millerslib.jpg) that indicated Miller's Department Store had had a lending library. I wanted to know why this little tidbit wasn't in any of my Knoxville histories -- and why Knoxville's available library history didn't seem to include it. Someone at the McClung Historical Collection was able to provide the details about Mrs. Yazlet, but now I'm curious about her and the library. I'd be pleased if anyone has more info. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Jul 2000 07:23:57 -0700 From: "Billie R. It may be a little distant from the topic of some lists, but it's still worth passing along anywhere people might have had ancestors in Scotland, England, or Wales in the mid-to-late 19th Century: http://www.old-maps.co.uk They take a while to load unless you have a T1 or cable modem or DSL or ISDN connection, but they're worth the wait. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Jul 2000 18:59:05 -0400 From: "Clayton McNew" <cmcnew.wats.bar@worldnet.att.net> Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Miller's Library This is a multi-part message in MIME format. - ------=_NextPart_000_0018_01BFF7FC.BCA962E0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable I can remember getting books from Millers .
