A.Conner Help!! A fellow researcher made a copy from the Jan Term 1883 Administrative Settlements that has just part of a document at the top of it that is driving me nuts! She said it was Vol 20 pg 383 Knox Co. TN. She was copying it for the administration papers of Thomas K. Coffman who we are researching. But at the top of the page, there is just the end of what must have started on page 382 which says...." I do swear the forgoing is a just true and perfect inventory of the ............estate of John Brown alias Jack Smith, deceased....... The administrator was W. A. A. Conner. Dated Dec 1, 1882" I am desperately looking for info on John Brown b. 1799 and his son John C. Brown b. ca 1832 in Knox Co. TN. Does anyone have any info on a John Brown in Knox who used an alias Jack Smith??? Or does anyone have a copy of page 382? I know that this Wm. Armstrong Aldridge Conner's family had ties to the Tillery's, Hunter's and Wood's who tie into my Brown line. So I hope this document could have some clue to help break through one of my brickwalls. Any help will be greatly appreciated, Carol Brown Key To unsubscribe, send message TO majordomo@rootsquest.com with this text: unsubscribe knoxcotn ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Aug 2000 07:33:48 EDT From: GStove9999@aol.com Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Samuel F. I am new to the group and wanted to explain my interest in Knox County. I apologize for the length, but I am at a cross roads with a family mystery and am casting my net about. My great-grandfather, David Murrell Ford, was born in Knoxville, as was his father David Leonodis Ford. He said that the Ford's comprised all of Knox County and half of eastern TN. How's that for an exaggeration? I began my genealogy research this Spring and am fortunate to have found a lot of information already, thanks to the hard work and generosity of many people. I was given a detailed ancestry of David L. Ford, which was great. What I am trying to do now is fill in where that info left off - which is with David L.'s marriages and children. I know that he married Lucy Hutton in Knox County and they had a few children. Lucy died young and David L. remarried Mary Ann Snavely of Lee County, VA who is from a prolific and well-documented family. David and Mary had three boys, one of whom is my David M. Ford (born in 1900, I think). David M. worked for the power company (State of TN?)installing lines in the rural areas of TN. He married (not sure where) very young (18 or 19 years old) to a widow who had a young child. David M. and this woman had a son. The son died young and David and his wife split up. David was in Cincinnati, still working for the power company where he met my great-grandmother and married her in 1926. Any info, ideas or suggestions about the power company, Tennesse resources or Ford family info would be greatly appreciated! Would love to hear from some Ford or Snavely family cousins! Thank you! The multiple June floods, the light fixture fire, and the massive termite damage **after** we had the building treated made Mama and me decide God was trying to tell us something. So, we're selling the business that she and my daddy started about the time I was born. Before he died, I promised Daddy I'd help him with his business, but I didn't expect it to take so much time! If you've wondered what in the world would keep me away from the full-time pursuit of genealogy and history research for the past 2 years, take a look at http://www.public.usit.net/auctions/packrat.html I am already planning for life post-auction: get past-due family newsletters mailed out; get some cobwebby, half-done transcriptions published; finish one family history that's been in the works since 1982; update some already-published books; get more web pages uploaded; update all my web sites; get Sir Spouse's thesis done (I'm his editor); and who knows what else...AFTER a nap <g>. Oh -- we've got some way-cool books, maps, postcards, and other history-related things for sale. They probably won't be sold at the auction, since I want to make sure they go to good homes <g>. After the auction's over, these treasures will be for sale in our on-line shop. But, feel free to inquire now!
