---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sun, 09 Jan 2000 13:14:38 -0500 From: doyi@icx.net Subject: [KnoxCoTN] WO Douglass Obit #1 Here is the entire obit. I was tired and not thinking when i only posted part of it, my apologies to everyone. It won't happen again. As i said to someone recently, all that is shared will help us all in the long run! The first was in a Knoxville newspaper (don't know which one) dated only 1936. The second has the date: Thursday February 6, 1936. #1 W.O. Douglass, 58, died yesterday at 4:10 p.m. at his home 1220 Hoitt Ave. Mr. Douglass suffered a paralytic stroke 10 years ago and had been in feeble health since then. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mayfield Council, No. 204, Jr. OUAM and Grace Council #41 D. of A.. Surviving are his widow Mrs Ella Douglass: three daughters, Mrs E.B. Stallion of Detroit and Misses Beulah and Ester Douglass of Knoxville. Two sons: John of Detroit and Willie Douglass of Knoxville: One sister, Mrs E.M. Brown, also 10 grandchildren. The body is at Rose Funeral Home awaiting further announcements. ****My notes from a Bible and oral history: Mrs E.B. Stallion was actually Mrs E.B. Stallings. Mrs E.M. Brown's maiden name was Myrtle L. Douglass. W.O. stands for William Oliver. William's wife (Ella Brown) was the sister of Myrtle's husband (Emanuel Brown). The second obit was a bigger write up with a headline and will follow in #2 in a few minutes (I typy "hunt and peck). This and the next obit were found in a family Bible and i will also post what little other info there is in it after i post obit #2. Thank you for your understanding and forgiveness.
