Looking for any information about Willis Green Montgomery, who appears on the 1850 Smith County census with his wife Elizabeth M. Carpenter and two young daughters. Willis & Elizabeth were married in September of 1844 in Lincoln County, KY. They had at least 3 more children after 1850: 1) Lindsay Powell Carpenter Montgomery (my g-grandfather), born in 1853 in Smith County 2) Margaret Leana Francis Montgomery, born in 1854 in Nashville, Davidson County, TN 3) Willis G. Montgomery, born in 1863 in Knox County, TN (presumed to be a "junior"). Willis Jr.'s obituary (from 1942), states that his father died just 2 months before Willis Jr. was born. That would put Willis Sr.'s death around August or September of 1863, presumably somewhere around Knox County, TN. But we have no information about how he died and where he's buried. Nor do we know anything about his parents or siblings. Information about Lindsay's, Margaret's, and Willis Jr.'s descendants can be reviewed from my website at: http://www.montbarc.com Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you! Marilyn Montgomery Gilbert, AZ
