---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 11 Apr 2000 17:36:16 PDT From: "Barbara Brinkley" <barb_brinkley@hotmail.com> Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Masons in E TN My cousins and I are seeking info on elusive Knox Co ancestors, some of whom we believe may have been Masons. We are wondering if Masonic Lodges would provide historical and/or membership information. Does anyone know if this is feasible, what kind of information they have, and how I would find a contact person among the Masons of E TN? Her Grandfather is a Mason and here is her response: The answer is 100% No...they absolutly will not provide ANY information or even give the names of past or present members....it is a VERY secretive brotheren. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Apr 2000 09:40:39 -0500 From: Craig & Stacie <onionring@BLomand.Net> Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Landis > 1850's-1900's This is a multi-part message in MIME format. - ------=_NextPart_000_0188_01BFA463.2A25C860 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Good Morning ... Here goes - Paternal Grandfather: Dolph Gibson Clark [b 30 Jan 1887 TN; d 24 Apr 1946 TN] Father: John George Clark [b 11 Sept 1847 TN; d 30 Apr 1931TN] Father: George W. Clark [b 1825 TN] Father: John G. Clark [b 1797]] Mother: Ann Mother: Mary Gray [b 1826 Canada] I need additional information on George W. Clark. I know from my research at McClung that a George W. Clark served in the civil war, but according to the age records, this could not be my George. I also need the marriage information for this George and Mary Gray. Searching for Clark's and Gray's is akin to searching for the proverbial "needle in a haystack." Where are these two buried, or could they still be hanging around??? Maybe my Clark's truly fell out of a tree. One other question, is Bethany Cemetery in Knox County, and if so, is there a list of those buried there? My grandmother was the first person to be buried in the cemetery across the street from the church and I have many, many more relatives in both the church cemetery and across the street. Has anyone catalogued it? They are in the process of transfering him now, and she went to see where he would be living, and the guard refused to let her on the property. Probably because he isn't there yet. The Mason's are known for taking care of their own, so I don't think he will be mistreated. She just wants the best for her grandfather and wanted to see where he would be living. The home sits on a hill, and from the main road it looks very beautiful and well cared for.
