Subject: [KnoxCoTN] UT-Knoxville Library fund-raising drive

The Special Collections Library at UT-Knoxville is currently trying to

raise money toward the Great Smoky Mountains Regional Project. The

library's letter says, "The goal of this effort is to create a

comprehensive bibliography of information about the region and to purchase

all documents, printed and otherwise, related to the Great Smoky

Mountains. This project would give the University of Tennessee the

opportunity to become the nation's center for Great Smoky Mountains

research. ... Your assistance can make it possible."

If you are interested in donating money, documents, or artifacts to this

project, please contact UT Special Collections Library by mail (1015

Volunteer Blvd., Knoxville, TN 37996-1000); phone (865-974-4127), or via

its website (http://www.lib.utk.edu).

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Find-a-Grave site has expanded

The Find-a-Grave site used to be pretty much just for famous people. Now

they've added 2.5 million "non-famous" people -- mostly burials at national

cemeteries. It's worth a look.

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] A little technical info about your mailing list subscription

Someone asked this morning why, when he tried to unsubscribe from one of

the mailing lists I administer, the server didn't "see" him. He uses MSN.

MSN has an issue (as do some other ISP's) where it adds the word "email"

(on other servers it's something else) to an address. So, you subscribe as

yourname@msn.com -- and you try to unsubscribe yourname@msn.com. The

problem is that MSN, when it forwards your messages out, sends them as

yourname@email.msn.com -- so, that's what the mail server sees. Some HUGE

mail servers know about these issues and resolve them

automatically. However, our list is serviced by a small genealogy server,

and we're all volunteers....no one has yet had time to address this issue

in the programming, because there are literally hundreds of variations.

Hope this will alleviate some of the frustration you may be experiencing.
