HEARTH SCARES The Tour of Ghostly Knoxville Come join the spirits for a tour of Downtown Knoxville's scariest landmarks. The tour which lasts approximately forty five minutes will visit the sites of some of Knoxville's best kept secrets. Included are the legend of Knoxville's own FRANKSTEIN, the hanging of Abner Baker, and the story of the ghostly swing set. Ww will also be stopping at First Presbyterian Cemetery to meet with some of the old town's residents. The tour will begin and end at the Museum of East TN History on Market Street and depart from there at 9:00 p.m. Admission is $5.00 per person or $8.00 for a couple. All proceeds benefit the James White's Fort. home of Knoxville's founder and are led by the Fort's On-Site DIrector Robert McGinnis. RESERVE YOUR PLACE NOW BEFORE THE GHOSTS AND GOBLINS DO ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 May 2000 13:01:31 -0700 From: "Billie R. McNamara" <knox@tngenweb.org> Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Knoxville Ghost Tour Apparently, there was some confusion in my message last night about our idea of having a "ghost stories" walking tour on Friday night during the weekend that we're all in Knoxville for the ETHS conference. Please note that this was NOT in any way designed to conflict with the conference, nor was it anything sanctioned by ETHS. To alleviate any potential issues, I've decided it's best to withdraw this option. If you're still jazzed up after Dr. Schweitzer finishes speaking and don't want to go straight to bed, you might find several of us hanging out at Fairbank's Roasting Room, which is diagonally across from the East TN Historical Center (corner of Market and Clinch). They have a "full dinner menu" (that's supper for us country folks <g>), and they offer a variety of coffees and desserts until midnight on Friday. Also, they have usually have special music, such as swing dancing on Friday nights. Not only that, they have a great lunch menu.... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 May 2000 12:57:04 -0500 From: Patricia Graves Reagan <pgreagan@execpc.com> Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Young High School class of 58/59 Is there any one out there from the class of 58/59 sure would be nice to talk to someone again. Having said that <g>, I've found several childhood friends using that service (I think it's $25 for a 2-year membership). Once you're registered, your name (maiden) will be displayed under your senior class (Class of '59, etc) for your particular school. You can also check out other schools if you had a friend in a rival high school <g>. Here's list of Knoxville high schools listed on Classmates.com (from my understanding, once someone from a particular school registers with the service, that school's name will be displayed in the roster)....

Pat, there were 6 individuals registered with the Young High School's Class of 1959 <smile> - Feldman, Morris, Shelton, Wallace, Wells & Wood. I know this is a tiny bit off-track, but it may help folks find long-lost cousins <g> Rose-Anne (Miz Billie's partner in the Knox Co., TNGenWeb)
