I responded that we don't have look-up volunteers, per se, but someone on

one of the lists might know something about her people...so, I'm forwarding

it. If you can help Ms. Littleton, please write to her directly (address

below) and post a copy to the list!

Hi,

I am Robert McGinnis, the local cemetery nut, I have searched for the

Sliger and Hardin names in both the 1880 & 1900 census and was unable to

establish a link to your John Sliger & Mollie Hardin. The Hardin name is very

old in Knox County dating to before statehood, while the Sliger seldom

appear's here, and most of the Sliger that are here are black. I would try

looking in either Roane County or Blount County for them in 1880. If you can

establish your Hardin link, you are going to be in Hog Heaven,

Hi,

Me again, I just had another thought and it panned out, John T Sliger is

listed in the 1891 State Census of males over 21 at age 38 living in the 24th

district of Knox County. That would put him somewhere in what is now Ft.

Sanders neighborhood near the University of Tennessee or what was then known

as West Knoxville.

I have finally completed the transcription of the will and Administrative

Settlement of my ggg-grandfather, Robert Smith, who died in Knox Co. in 1850.

One of the neat things about the will is it lists about 50 different family

names as it is quite large and covers a period of 10 years. It looks as if

it the will was contested in court (more research).

The properties list the neighbors who have names such as Hall, Brown, Bowen,

Luttrell, Crippen, Major. I hope some of you find a relative listed. Go to.

Man, is this fun or what?
