http://www.byu.edu/news/releases/Apr/onlinefamilyhistory.htm

This site is church-oriented, and it focuses primarily on LDS

resources. But, Lesson 1 under "Finding your ancestors" is a good basic

resource for most researchers, especially the beginners. And, while Lesson

2 deals specifically with PAF, it has good suggestions for everyone about

using a computerized genealogy program...although I have to disagree with

the statement, "...it is much better to enter your names in a genealogy

computer program." I'll probably be the last holdout for manual

record-keeping left one day.

Thank goodness they have high-tech (flash) and low-tech (text) options

available.

I saw a request for information on Daniel Morton Rose recently. I dont know

anything about the Rose family yet, but was wondering if anyone is

researching the Rose family in east Tennessee. I have a James (Jim) Rose b

abt 1880 Knox, TN who married Amanda Jefferies. They had a Charlie Rose

(1900-1970) who married Luzania Atkins daughter of John Henry Adkins and Sara

Elizabeth McPhetridge.

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Email woes

Hi, everyone...

I've discovered some issues with mail going out and coming in recently on

several of my accounts (they all forward to this one). If you've written a

personal note to me that is important, but I haven't responded, please

write to me at knox@tngenweb.org -- that one is still mostly stable, even

though I'm trying to phase it out.

Apologies to everyone for my delays. I discovered a glitch in my CD writer

and have been trying to resolve it -- and I got sidetracked by focusing on

it, which made me a very bad girl for not letting everyone know the status

of the CD's.

Crossing fingers -- they'll all be cut and in the mail this evening or

tomorrow morning.

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Big prayer request

Most of you know our Robert McGinnis lost his father late last year after

Mr. McGinnis suffered a slip-and-fall accident in their driveway. He

developed complications.

Over this past weekend, Robert's mom fell in almost the same spot and

landed in the hospital with a fractured pelvis and 17 stitches in her

head. She is home from the hospital now, but Robert's her roommate <g> and

is pretty much the primary care-giver. That's in addition to all he's

involved with on the historic front in Knoxville (spring has sprung, and

the Dogwood Festival is going full bore).

Please remember Mrs. McGinnis and Robert in your thoughts and prayers. I

doubt Robert will be able to be actively "among us" for a while, so, as I

learn more, I'll pass it along.

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Update on Mrs. McGinnis

I talked briefly with Robert tonight. He's taking another week off to

spend with his mom. She's mobile...more so than the doctors would like,

but typical for a woman of her lifestyle and personal drive.

They do appreciate your prayers and thoughts.
