---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 13 Apr 2001 14:33:50 -0400 From: "Billie R. McNamara" <knox@tngenweb.org> Subject: [KnoxCoTN] History Teachers Civil War Tutorial Grant Program Please help spread the word! The East TN Historical Society has received grant funding to provide a Civil War Institute to history teachers June 11-15, 2001. Teachers' expenses are covered, and they receive a "modest stipend" upon completion of the "participant's eligibility requirements." Teachers must be employed to teach grades 4-8, responsible for teaching history, available to stay in the institute residence for the entire week, and commit to developing and piloting lesson plans based on teaching East TN's CW history. There are overnight field trips to CW sites including Chattanooga and Greeneville. There's no indication that the teachers have to be employed in Tennessee schools. The deadline for applying is May 1, 2001. That's when they have to be postmarked. Contact ETHS at http://www.east-tennessee-history.org/ for details. E-mail is oakley@east-tennessee-history.org Don't ask me for details, please -- I'm just sharing what was in the paper. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Apr 2001 14:24:49 EDT From: Tenc@aol.com Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Knox Co TN area phone directories: Jasper Exchange - --part1_c9.f018072.2809eff1_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit This is from the June 1916 directory of the Peoples Telephone and Telegraph Company, Knox Co and surrounding areas.
