Could anyone around the Powell area tell me where the Horace Brown old

home place might be located? He would have lived there in the

1940's. Betty

With the Henry line beginning with James Henry b. 1751 and Jean McNabb:

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] JONES AYLETTE MOORE WHITE McGHEE

I've enjoyed reading the intro's and will take advantage of the recent flurry to re-submit my list

of names to the list -- since ya never know -- Maybe I'll get a nibble. I am writing a history of the feud that took place between the Jones, McGhee and Howard families in Monroe, Blount, and Knox counties. My effort is to present an objective account, giving the benefit of the doubt to all sides rather than seeking to present the participants as "good guys" or "bad guys."

I am also interested in the genealogy of the McGhees and Jones families, which include the families of Aylette (Aylet/Aylett), White (beginning with James White of Knoxville), Moore (Bernard Moore), and Spottswood (also Spotiswood).

Thanks,

Joan Barclay Troy

I am very interested in hearing from anyone who has successfully traced =

one of their Native American ancestors. It seems impossible! For =

example, my wife's father's maternal grandmother was Eliza Jane Rogers, =

b 1871 d 1917. I have a picture of her with her husband - she obviously =

has a close Native American ancestry. Was she given the name Eliza Jane =

at birth or later by someone who set out to "civilize" her? The Loudon =

County, TN 1910 Census lists her race as "white", but what is that based =

on? There is an entry in the NARA records for an "Eliza J Rogers", but =

she is listed as being 2 years old - sometime between 1898 and 1914, so =

that doesn't seem worth pursuing. =20

If any of you have made your way through the maze of finding your Native =

American roots, please enlighten me. =20

Thanks,

Hi Everyone,

My name is Michelle Gentry Hagan. I live in Aiea, Hawaii and began my family

research two years ago. My father, William H. L. Gentry was born in

Corryton, Knox County.

I recently updated my web site and have many new pictures, grave marker

photos, will transcriptions and obituaries, GentryHaganHomePage

My families of interest are:

Ellis family of Maryville, Blount County

Gentry families of Union and Knox Counties

Roberts family of Corryton, Knox County

Family of William D. Russell, he is listed in the Knoxville City Directory

during the 1920s as an herb doctor.

Walker family of Union County

I look forward to hearing from anyone interested in these families.

Aloha,

Michelle
