Hi Ray,

Take a look at the Knox County, TNGenWeb "Research Helps" page:

http://www.knoxcotn.org/helps/index.html

You'll find links to the census transcriptions available online

Hope that helps!

Dear KnoxTNers:

If your research is like my Conner, Carney, Riggs, Philpott, Hicks, et al

research, you often wind up in Maryland and on the Great Wagon road in NC

(Stokes County and thereabout).

David Rigg is at a college in the Shenandoah with unlimited computer

resources and bright to boot (like that McNamara lady we all know) supplied

these references for maps and I thought these map resources might help someone.

Peace, Jim

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Heading for the Mountains!!!!

Cal-i-for-nia, here I go...

After 3 months, I'm scheduled to fly depart Southern California tomorrow

morning at 7 a.m. I don't care if they check my teeth before they let me

on that plane, but I've got a BIG hankerin' to see my mountains, hug my

wonderful husband, and romp in the yard with my dawgs.

I'll be decked out in red-white-and-blue and carrying an American flag

(minus the stick; they won't let you on with anything that might be used as

a weapon).

Prayers and good wishes appreciated -- I look forward to sending my next

e-mails from my own computer room while my eyes are glued on mile-high

Mount LeConte, as viewed across 60,000 acre Douglas Lake.

California's purty, I reckon, but it jist ain't home...<g>

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Hughes family

My wife is desended from Andrew and Ellen Hughes. Ellen and her

children appear in the 1880 Census for Knox County Tenn. Andrew had

died in 1873. I do not find him in the Cemetery lists on the internet

at the Knox county site however we would like to discover more about

Andrew, his parents and Ellen ? and her parents. Cemetery records,

death notices, birth records, marriage records....Can anyone advise how

far

back these kinds of records go in Tenn.? Are there church baptismal

records available, Etc.
