Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Tennessee School for the Deaf (Knoxville) - 1845-1945

Hi y'all....

I'm pleased to announce the first installment of excerpts from "100th

Anniversary of the Tennessee School for the Deaf 1845-1945"

http://www.knoxcotn.org/schools/tsd/index.html

At this point, we have the "History of the School", "History of the Negro

Department", as well as lists of teachers, matrons, and the 2,803 pupils

that were enrolled in the school from its opening in 1845 through the 1944-5

school year. Each pupil roster includes the year(s), the pupil's name,

community and TN county (otherwise covers community, state for those outside

TN). A link back to the county selection page at TNGenWeb is included, so

our researchers can "read up" on their particular counties ;-)

http://www.knoxcotn.org/schools/tsd/students.htm

Likewise, there's a link on the "Summary by Counties" page:

http://www.knoxcotn.org/schools/tsd/enrollment.htm

Please "kick the tires" and let us know what you think. I hope this is

helpful to everyone....

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Home!

It's just after 3 a.m. Eastern Time. I've been home about 15 minutes,

having been awake for 19 hours trying to get here from LA.

I thank God that I got here safely.

If you have to fly anytime in the next few weeks, I strongly suggest you be

patient during the extreme delays and be as flexible as

possible. Otherwise, you're going to have a terrible trip.

Oh -- and this is no time to have any kind of preferences when it comes to

scheduling. Take whatever the system offers. Otherwise, you'll make

everyone behind you very, very frustrated...

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Please keep our Rose-Anne in your prayers

She'll whup on me for doing this, but I don't care...I'm bigger than she is

<wink>.

Tomorrow morning, at 9 a.m. Eastern Time, Rose-Anne Cunningham's having a

procedure done that we're believing will repair the electrical "short" in

her heart beats. I'd appreciate it if those of you who believe in

intercessory prayer will join me at that time and over the ensuing 3 hours

to lift her and her medical team up.

And, if you feel this is a bit off-topic for our list, I

apologize. Rose-Anne's one of the dearest friends I have in the world, and

I believe the more prayer power we have going, the more angels she'll have

at her side through this event.

I'll be sure to let y'all know how things go as soon as I get a call from

her husband.

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Update on Rose-Anne

I wasn't home this evening when Rose-Anne called, unfortunately. She

sounded tired, but she's been discharged from the hospital and is staying

in a hotel nearby overnight. Nurses....<g> At least she's going to her

mama's tomorrow...

They had to go in on both sides with the heart catheters, and they found

one "extra pacemaker" in the right side of her heart. It was zapped into

oblivion, so she should be firing normally on all cylinders now. <wink>

I thank God things went okay and that she'll be back with us in a few days.

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Get your virus definitions updated now!

Norton Antivirus has a new definition set that includes the W32.Nimda.A@mm

virus that made the news today. I'm sure the other virus scanners have

updates available also.

See http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.nimda.a@mm.html for details.

Norton classes this one a threat-level 4 out of 5. I've already heard of

people being hit by this one in li'l ole Knoxville, Tennessee,

today. Don't take any chances.

And, if you haven't got a virus scanner installed that reads your e-mail

and files as they are coming in, what are you doing on-line right now?

Subject: [KnoxCoTN] Fwd: Dowell family

Received this today from Deanna Dowell <dowells@sinclair.net>. Thought I'd

pass it along in case someone(s) on our list has/have interest:

- -----------------------------------------------------------

Billie McNamara -

I'm sure your job is not to connect the outside world with local Knox Co

genealogists, but I'd sure appreciate your help.

My family, the Ephriam Dowells' lived up on Copper Ridge. I'm looking for

his father. I have only one clue - in the 1850 federal Knox Co census,

Ephriam, age 12, was living with Elijah Dowell, age 83.

For about a decade, I have tried to connect the two families, but have no

proof. I truly need a local genealogist who can find local records to help me.

If you have someone who would be interested, I would greatly appreciate

it. I have a lot of info that could help the researcher (i.e.: all

Elijah's children, his will, etc.). Of course I would be willing to pay.

Please let me know if you can help or if I should go thru someplace else

for this very frustrating point in my genealogy.

Thank you - Deanna Dowell from Bremerton Washington (at one time I belonged

to your East Tennessee Historical society)
