HOOD Family of Knoxville, TN
Dennis Lancaster -- Sunday, 1 April 2001, at 9:12 a.m.
I am interested in the HOOD line in Knox Co., Knoxville, TN. My line starts with Andrew HOOD b. 1801 d. 1840 and married to Sally BURNHAM. The only child I am aware of is James Madison HOOD b. 1828 d. 1860 and married to Polly BAKER on 29 Mar 1846 in Knox Co., TN. I have been in contact with others who are directing me to Aaron HOOD and Anna who were possibly Andrew's parents. I have not substantiated this information as yet. My grandfather was Alvin Mead HOOD who lived in Knox Co., TN until he moved to Sullivan Co., IN and then to Detroit, MI. where he died.
Any information would be of help.

Joel Rudder is my grandmother's grandfather. I don't have much info
except that he married Sarah A. Camp. I have nothing on the Camps.
I assume they were in Knox Co. Do you know anything about them. What
info do you have on the Rudders. I think they were from VA but nothing
positive. It appears in the 1850 census that they came to Greene Co
and Robert moved on to Knoxville. Sorry that I did not get back sooner
but I could not bring up this page until tonight.

He is buried in Lynnhurst Cemetery in Fountain City. He was either a Cherokee or a Chickasaw Indian. My Surnames include: LONAS,RAMSEY,BIGGS,CONNER/CONNERS,and JONES.
He had one doaughter that I know of Mamie Omega Lonas who married Everette Ramsey(My Great Grandad).
Any info would be appreciated.

Grills family of Knox Co., TN
Steve
Riggan -- Friday, 27 April 2001, at 12:20 p.m.
Searching for information on family. I am a descendant of William D. and Huldah Julian Grills of Knox Co., TN. They married there in 1835. She descends from the Byram and Julian families tracing back to Frederick Co., VA and Plymouth Co., MA to the Mayflower. William D. Grills was the son of Elliott and Mary Cox Grills of Knox Co., and was born in 1801 there. His father Elliott's parents were John and Philadelphia Grills, both born probably around 1720 in Virginia, living in Albemarle Co., VA in 1746, moved to Montgomery Co., VA in 1770's and on to Hawkins Co., TN where Philadelphia left will 1789 and John left his in 1803 in Knox Co., TN. Trying to find John and Philadelphia's ancestry in Virginia. If any information, please notify me. Thanks.

Parsleys and Randles
George
D. Smith -- Friday, 27 April 2001, at 1:48 p.m.
Searching for info on William and Sarah (?) Parsley and their offspring. William served in the Militia in War of 1812 and died ca. 1830, leaving Sarah, 5 daughters, and 5 sons. Only three daughters have been identified.
Knox County records show Cassandra (m) Andrew Randle ca 1824. They left "Thorn Grove" and migrated to Franklin County TN. ca 1855, moving to Marion County TN in 1860. Cassandra returned to Knox County after the Civil War and lived to be the oldest resident, at the time of her death. She was a member of the First Methodist Church.
Sarah Parsley (m) William Ravenhill Monday. They moved to Lincoln County TN ca 1860.
There is a problem in the fact that a William Pursley lived in the same area,
near Boyd's Creek, and he died about the same time that
my William Parsley died. The Randle Families had bottom land on the south side
of the French Broad River, near the junction with the Holston. I have the
history of the Randle Family, but need info on the Parsley line. Any help will
be appreciated.

Pam,
Do you have a copy of the Glenwood Baptist Church History Book? There is an article and picture in there of Wm W. Bayless. I would be glad to type up the article and send it to you, if you don't have it.

Monday, 30 April 2001, at 11:22 a.m.
I am looking for any information at all regarding my great grandmother, Anna Laura Lockwood. The only information I have about her is that she was born in Knoxville ( probably in the late 1800's ) and that she had at least one child ( my grandfather, Percy Theodore Webb - his father is Harry Burton Webb from Cortland, New York.) I know at some point she must have lived in Auburn, New York because she had my grandfather there. Does anyone know anything about her or think they may be related in some way? Please contact me if you have any info. Thank you!
