William Houston and Margaret Swan were married in Knox Co. Tn. 23 Sept. 1816. I am trying to find out if this is the parents of Catherine Houston b. Tn in 1818. Catherine was my gg-grandmother and all the information that I have is that her mother was Margaret and that she (Catherine)was born in Tn in 1818. I am looking for the ancestors and descendants of Margaret Kelly who was born in Knox County, Tennessee abt 1788. She married Ephraim L. Prigmore ( born 1784 ) probably in Knox County. Son James Ore Prigmore was also born in Knox County. He married Elizabeth Shelton before 1838. It appears that the whole family moved to Marion County before that 1838 date. I am trying to make a connection between all the Prigmores, Kellys and Sheltons in Knox and Marion Counties. Can any body help ???

I am searching for the parents of James Foster born January 10,1810 in Tennessee. I found Alexander Foster married Patsy Plumbly 29 November 1799 in Knox County. I am wondering if anyone knows if they stayed or moved on as James later lived in Kentucky and from 1831-1863 (his death) in Perry County, IN.. I'm looking for any information at all about the family of Harry G. and Emma Clark Doan. Both were born in l898 or l899 and lived near the Cumberland Gap in KY in the l920's and l930's. Harry was a conductor for the railroad. I believe they may have moved across the border into TN and perhaps Knox County. They had two children, William A. Doan and Anna Laura Doan. Silas Branch shown on 1850 census, Knox County with son, Silas. Silas, Jr., had daughter Effie Lee Branch who married Charles H. Simkins in Knox co. in 1898. In family records there is also reference to Strawberry Plains. I'm sure these were poor folk, but can't connect them to anyone. Wives were Ellen Martin, and Celia Casey. The older Silas Branch gives b.p. as VA, b.d. prob. 1798. Would like death/cemetery record, anything.

My gggrandfather, John ENGLAND, was born in Knox, TN in 1810. I know little about his early life or family except that he married Rebecca EDMONDSON 2 Mar 1830 in Knox, TN. His mother married George STARMER later in life, so he had several step brothers and sisters. He and Rebecca had only one child, Mary Elizabeth Grant ENGLAND, born in Wright Co., MO, 27 Aug 1851. In 1853 they moved west to Oregon, and lived in Port Orford, OR; Napa, CA; and Roseburg, OR. He died 8 Jan 1893 in Salem, at his daughter's home. Any information that could help me determine his father and mother's names would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Mr. Edmonson,I am the gggranddaughter of Rebecca Edmonson, who was born in 1812 in Knox, Co. TN. I do not know her parents names. After she married John ENGLAND in 1830, they lived next door to Isaac Edmonson (age 20-30), (who had been a witness to their marriage) and Samuel Edmonson (age 60-70). I am hoping that Isaac is her brother and Samuel her father. Is this Samuel listed on page 345 of the 1830 Knox Co. TN Census #178. your Samuel? I'm looking for information on the name HARVESON, in particular a Rufous Harveson. In 1806, a James Harveson was listed in Knox Co. on the Petitioners List. In 1840, William P. Harveson was listed in the census. A Sarah Starnes married Owen Martin. A transfer of property to Owen had Ruf Harveson as one of the signers along with a Joshua Starnes. These were probably Sarah's relations - to protect her dower rights. The name is an unusual name and am hoping to find additional information on the family. Thanks

Would be very appreciative to anyone who would look up the family of William Sayers or Sawyers on the 1860 & 1870 Knox Co. TN Census. If he is on these census, I would like to know his children's names and any pertinent data about the family. I do know for sure that William Sayers or Sawyers had a son, John S. Sayers, born in Knoxville, TN on February 2, 1865. John S. Sayers moved to Clark Co. OH by 1890.

Looking for info on John S. Sayers, b. February 2, 1865 in Knoxville, TN. He was the son of William Sayers and Anna Shcism. He is later found in Clark Co., OH where he married Minnie Shane Clynes, probably around 1890. Minnie died in 1901 in Clark Co., OH and left John S. Sayers with 5 children: Maude Mae, age 11, Charles Stafford, Anna Catherine, Evalyn, and Arthur John. Information on John S. Sayers' parents is very limited. I wonder if William possibly could be son of Hartwell Sawyer of Sullivan Co. TN? If so, this William Sawyer/Sawyers/Sayers would have been born in 1829.

My gr. grandmother, Harriet Deliney Kitts bn July 1881, md. Benjamin B. Berry 11 March 1896, died May 1911 at Halls Crossroads, Knox, TN. Her dress caught on fire and she died from burns. Her husband broke up the family after her death and was never heard of again. I am trying to locate any information on Harriet's death and her parents. Is anyone familiar with Halls Crossroads and what cemeteries are there? I am hoping to find a newspaper account of her death or burial. Would love to find some information on her. Thanks in advance. I am searching for the ancestors of Joseph Calvin Lee, born 14 Nov. 1845 in Strawberry Plains, Knox County, Tenn., died 15 Feb. 1926 in Saltville, Smyth County, Va. He served in the Confederate States army during the War of Northern Agression and was taken prisoner at the Battle of Sayler's Creek in 1865. His father was named William.

I am looking for the Parents of or any info on JAMES BYRD,
(name changed, date unknown, could be spelled BIRD).
JAMES BYRD (b.1841) married CATHERINE McDANIEL (b.7-1852),
marriage date and place unknown. The couple had 9 kids,
Ellen, Levi, Reuben, Elizabeth, California (Callie),
Emily, Loushan (or Lucion), Ollie (or Olie), and John D.
All kids were born in Clay Co. Ky.
The 1880-1910 Clay Co. Ky. Census puts them all living
there, JAMES BYRD died there sometime between 1885 and 1900, date is unknown.
It is believed that JAMES BYRD was born in either Knox,
Sevier, Hawkins, or Grainger Co. Tn. Have been unable to
find his Parents, him or his bothers & sisters listed.
JAMES BYRD had 4 brothers: Wilson, Hardin, William, and
Thomas, he also had 4 sisters: Louisa, Eva, Alice, and
Rachel. All also belived to be born in Tn.
All other dates and info are unknown so any help in
finding my family would be greatly appreciated!!!

Michael WIDENER and wife (Esther ELDER)? are found on the 1830 Knox Co TN census. Michael WIDENER is between 60-70 & his wife is 50-60 on the 1830 Knox Co TN Census. I think this information is right but I do not know for sure? Does anyone have approximate information when they came to Knox Co.? They had children, I think one was Jacob Widener b. ca 1810 and I am not sure if in Knox Co., I know where Michael WIDENER was in 1813 but I have no idea when they came to Knox Co.? Was Michael's wife Esther ELDER? Did Esther die in Knox Co.? What happened to them and can anyone verify if Michael WIDENER'S wife was Esther ELDER? Thank you.

The 1830 Knox Co., TN census lists Michael WIDENER aged 60-70 on the 1830 Knox County, TN. census with a wife, aged 50-60. I believe the wife aged 50-60 was Esther ELDER WIDENER & she is probably buried in Knox County, TN. I have information without sources that Michael WIDENER left Knox Co. after Esther died. I would appreciate any information.
