Re: Park City, Tennessee
Steve White -- Wednesday, 1 August 2001, at 9:02 p.m.

Park City is a community located in East Knoxville; it is not a city. In the Knoxville directory there is no Howard Avenue listed. There is a Howard Street located close to Fulton High School which is off North Broadway in Knoxville. There is a Howard Drive in Fountain City which is located off US Highway 441 further North on Broadway. However, the Park City Community area is located off Magnolia Avenue in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Barbara Thomas -- Thursday, 2 August 2001, at 9:33 p.m.

I remember some Armstrongs that belonged to Macedonia Methodist Church, which I have been a member since I was 5 years old. And I older now. I will be glad to go to the cemetary next to the church or see if I can find anything in the history at the church. There were some Armstrong that lived across the street in a large white house.

John, Thanks for answering....I haven't the slightest clue as to the connection, if there is one. I have never come across the name in marriages, etc. I suppose the Hendren's could have been grandparents of Mary S. Thompson. Keep in touch, and if I come across anything, will gladly share.

Re: Tennessee Dunlap
Sammie L. Laurance -- Thursday, 2 August 2001, at 10:51 p.m.

Katie, Found this interesting. I have record of a Tennessee M. Dunlap
born 11/26/1872 died 5/23/1946 in Grant County, Oregon.
She married Richard Williams on July 10, 1887 in Grant County, Oregon. Am pretty sure she came from Tennessee. Could this be connection. I'm not related to this person, but do lots of research. This is listed in Marriage records and also cem. index. It's possible to look up the death record and see where she was born and possible her parents names...

Bowen/Thompson in Knox Co, c1805
Marcy -- Friday, 3 August 2001, at 9:32 a.m.

Seeking info on pars and sibs of Abner Bowen and Jenny Thompson, who married in Knox County 1805. They were apparently in Shelby County at the time of Abner's death in 1829. Dau Mary (Polly) married Granger McDaniel also in 1829. Widowed Jenny and at least one son removed to Milam (later Bell) County, Texas along with Granger McDaniel's family, before 1845. Jenny (aka Genette/Jenette) Bowen received a "headright" grant from the Republic of Texas in her own name, as a member of Robertson's Colony.

Have information on Granger and Polly McDaniel's desc, and a bit on the children of Abner and Jenny. Happy to share. Please respond to marcyp@ghg.net. TIA

Vital Statistics or Information on Washington HARRIS.
Jimmy D. Harris -- Thursday, 30 August 2001, at 5:36 p.m.

My great grandfather reportedly was born in 1820 in Tennessee or North Carolina in the Knoxville area. A review of the 1830 or 1840 census shows there were three Washington Harris in Knox County. I understand that Knox County was formed from Greene and Washington County so he could have been born in any of these counties. He moved to Georgia and married Sarah Edna SMITH on 23 Oct. 1845 and they moved to Texas in 1846. In TX they lived in Grimes Co. near Retreat, TX (Groce's Retreat, a plantation) and were friends of Elisabeth NYE (MONTGOMERY) the sculptor and were visited by Gen. Nathanial GREEN of Revolutionary War fame. Since my dad was named Alga Green HARRIS and my grandfather Washington Green HARRIS I feel I may also be related to the GREEN family. I would like any information about Washington HARRIS and possible relationship to the GREEN or GREENE families.

Salmon family in Knoxville
Jodie nelson -- Friday, 31 August 2001, at 8:29 p.m.

My great-grandfather, James H. Salmon(Solomon, etc) was born in Knoxville in 1832 to William W. and Elizabeth. In a newspaper article about the Salmon family move to Texas in 1848 with the families of Thomas Bell, it was said they came from a settlement called Bull Run near Knoxville. Can anyone tell me more about this settlement? I have been unable to find documentation for JH Salmon's birth or anything at all about william and elizabeth. Was there really a Bull Run settlement near Knoxville?
