Mass grave for civil war soldiers

Posted by Shannon Stewart <ShaniFaye@aol.com> on Sat, 19 Dec 1998

Surname: HUNTER

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING EMAIL I RECEIVED IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME IDENTIFY THE LOCATION OF THIS GRAVE PLEASE EMAIL ME ASAP....it was at the archives where I found information concerning Elisha's burial site. The source indicated that he was buried in the national cemetery in Knoxville. And I believe it even gave a grave number. But after considerable searching (last May) we found his burial site at a small cemetery that was private when he was buried and in fact still is. The cemetery is surrounded by at least a 12' fence and virtually impossible to get into(well at least for most of us). The people responsible for the cemetery could not find the key (a worker had taken it home with him) and he could not be located we had to continue our trip but we will go back the cemetery the next time through that part of the country. We tried to take pictures but it was very difficult due to the fence. We though it was a very beautiful little cemetery probably an acre. Elisha was buried in a common grave with 20 others. I don not know of any details of the fighting around Knoxville and
not sure what Elisha died of. But it looks like there was a lot of dying the that day as indicated by the mass grave.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Cecil Vernon Lawson-Knox Co.

Posted by Sandra <SandraPonce@worldnet.att.net> on Sat, 05 Dec 1998

Surname: LAWSON, EVANS

I'm looking for any info. on Cecil Vernon Lawson, last known to have lived in Knoxville, TN. He was married to
my deceased aunt, Elizabeth EVANS, around 1940ish. They had two children, Robert Lewis Lawson and Judith Anne Lawson.
My aunt was killed in a car accident in 1947 and it's imperative that I contact either Cecil, Robert or Judith. I had heard that Robert may have lived in Nashville and may be involved in country/western music. Supposedly, this
Lawson family had something to do with a Lawson Foods Co. in TN. If anyone can help me get in touch, please email me ASAP! I'd like to meet and exchange info. with my cousins (whom I've never met) and add to our genealogical info.
