Re: Huffaker genealogy
Juanita
Dunlap -- Wednesday, 1 December 1999, at 3:43 p.m.
Jason,
There is a cousin Millie Ellen Cummings from Maryville, Blount, Tn. who married a James Peter Huffaker in that area. She was born in Blount Co., but, I do not at the present know where her James was born. James and Millie had a son named James Phylander Huffaker who married Cathrine Isabella Dunlap. Since Millie and Cathrine's mother's were sister, James Phylander Huffaker and Cathrine Dunlap were cousins. These Huffaker families along with the Dunlap families came to Tx. settled in western part of Tarrant Co., Tx. outside of Fort Worth. They say that all Huffaker's were related coming from that part of the country, naming Knox and Blount Co., Tn. Have you done you census work on this, you might give me more names. I do have more names to throw at you. I have done quite a lot of research on this family.

Sirs,
I need a look up. I am researching my GGGrandmother Mary Ann Rule. I know she was born in 1841, married Boyd Alexander Sharp, and is buried in Stockcreek Baptist Church Cemetary. That's it. I assume you have listings for you cemetary plots. Please look up this grave and send me any information you find there. I need a precise birthdate, a precise marriage and death date. I'm also interrested in any Rules and Sharps that might be buried near her. I believe her father to be George Rule III but cannot confirm it at this time. Thank you for your help.

-- Wednesday, 8 December 1999, at 1:08 a.m.
Mary Ann Rule Sharp was born in 1840. She died in 1918 She was the daughter of George Rule III(Jan 2, 1814-Dec 6. 1883) and Mary Ann Capps(B. May 12, 1818 D. July 25, 1892: Married Nov 17, 1836 in Knox County, TN).
Mary Ann Rule Sharp married Boyd Alexander Sharp on February 11, 1858 in Knox County, Tennessee. He was the son of Alexander Sharp and Susannah Maxwell. He was born in 1832 and died in 1914.
Both Mary Ann and Boyd are buried in Stock Creek Cemetery in Knox County. Their marker however only gives the birthyear and the deathyear. Buried beside them are:Adelma Sharp 1882-1948, Albert Sharp 1878-1972. Also there is an Edna J. Keller 10-11-1881-1-15-1957 buried beside Albert but I am not sure if she is part of the Sharp family.
Buried on the other side of Mary Ann and Boyd is Mary Ann's brother Jacob Dowell Rule b. Aug 2, 1853 d. Jan 17, 1919 and his wife Maggie Jane Hilton Rule b. May 18, 1863 and died Dec 3, 1932.
Please e-mail me if you would like any more information on the Rule family.

Searching for Edward Ketchum who was probably same Edward that married Mary Reasor, (daughter of Peter Razor) in Montgomery County, VA circa 1791. One of Edward's children was named Peter Razor (Reasor?) Ketchum. This family migrated through Knox Co., TN and Orange Co., NC and Blount Co., AL and then some went to Christian Co., Illinois, thence to Texas.
Records show possibility that Peter Razor Ketchum married Ann Burrell in 1825 in Blount County, AL (records say Razor Catchem).
Peter's grandson, Thomas Edward Ketchum, was the infamous 'Black Jack' Ketchum of San Saba, TX, leader of the outlaw gang in late 1800s, who was hanged in Clayton, NM.

Les Varner -- Friday, 31 December 1999, at 4:00 p.m.
Are there any Woody males in the East Tennessee area prior to 1845 that die that could be the first husband of Catherin WOODY? Rhea Co.?
I AM SEARCHING FOR THE ANCESTORS of Catherin WOODY, b. May 4,1816, Tennessee. She married Jacob Ira VARNER in Knox Co., TN in December 1845 (bn David L Kid) They had at least three boys, George W.(b.1852), William (b.1857) and John (b. 1858). Jacob had several other children but they may be by a previous marriage. Catherin and Jacob lived in KNOX Co., ROANE,Co.,MCMINN Co. and MONROE Co. TN before finally moving in the late 1870's to Cherokee Co., AL. Catherin died on March 13, 1886. She is buried at Broomtown, AL.
The 1850 Census of ROANE Co. list Henderson WOODY, age 9 (to old to be Jacob Varner's child) as being part of Catherin and Jacob's household. Family tradition has Henderson going to the Civil War but not returning homes after the war. Do any of you in your lines have a son named Henderson WOODY by a Catherin?
Any help will be appreciated. Please e-mail.
