Re: Raby in Knox Co and surrounding area
Lisa Davis -- Monday, 2 July 2001, at 6:37 p.m.
I am researching the Lee side of the Family. Samuel Lee married Francis Raby in Dec. 1850. They lived in the Solway/Ball Camp Area of Knox County Tennessee. They had 7 children. Mary L Lee married Berry A Kirby, Clisby Lee married Phoebe Hendrix & Tilda Hensley, James Azor Lee married Cynthia Allison, Hugh Lee married Orphie Cagle, William Christion Lee ( my great-great grandfather) married Zenia Bell Allison & Martha Raby, John A. Lee married Sally Talant, and Richard K Lee married Mary J. Smith. I would be interested in any information you might have. I know that Samuel's parents are Permit Lee and Susanna Moats and Permit was probably born in Virginia. This is also a work in process and I would appreciate any info.
Thanks

Carol,
Isnt this the same John C. Brown that proportedly married
Martha Gilpen....I have not been able to find them after
1860 in Knox Co. nor much information about the Gilpens
at all....Have you had any luck with them ??? I know that
Martha had a sister Nancy and a sister Phoebe...one married a Mereidith and one
an Ezell...also a brother
Armistead who married a Coffman. But no luck on where they went or even who their
descendants are...how about you ??
Maybe some one on this list knows something of the Browns,
Gilpens, Mereidiths, and Ezells...If so I would sure like to hear from them
wouldnt you ?? This is the last lost sheep of my Brown family...except the name
of John C's
grandfather which I have about given up on...( I think he must be a William but
I sure cant prove it )...Got fingers crossed that one of us hears some good news
from our fellow Knox Co. listers...Thanks to any and all who can and are willing
to help solve the mystery of the diappearing son...Terri Brown Jurca

Hi.
I wish i could be of more help to you in your search for your White family.
I was wondering if there was a Jane White in your line of White family. The only
thing I know of this Jane white is that she was my great-great grandmother and
she was born in Tennessee before marrying a James Bennett and moving on to
Missouri.Maybe some of these names make sense to you.I know that they had at
least 3 children and one of them was born in 1877.This child was my great
grandmother's sister and she is so far the only link I have to finding any
information on my great grandmother. This link was a death certificate that
listed Jane White of Tennessee as my great great grandmother and maybe if I can
find out a bit more about her I will find out more about my great grandmother.
Thank you for your time in reading this query and I hope to hear from you,

Photo memories
Sheila Demott --
Saturday, 28 July 2001, at 8:31 p.m.
I recently came across a photo my parents had made of me when I was about 5 or so. This would have been around 1965. The photo was a picture of me on a horse. Apparently there was a man who went around to neighborhoods in Knoxville and made photos of kids on horses. My grandmother also had a photo of her youngest son on a pony also. The two photos could have been made by the same man. My question is Did anyone else out there have one of these photos made? If so does anyone know who the man was who made took the pictures and owned the pony? I would like to add the photo to my family history book and I am looking for some more information on the photo. I lived in the Mechanicsville neighborhood at the time the photo was made and someone said this man only took photos in the poorer neighborhoods as the families there could not have more expensive studio photos made. Any help on this would be helpful.

BOOHER(BREWER)/MCDANIEL(MCDONALD)
Lian Booher Thomas -- Monday, 30 July 2001, at 6:43 p.m.
Looking for my ggrandparents. James BOOHER married Neata McDonald on June 25, 1898 in Knox County. Her real name was (I am told) Juanita McDaniel. They appear on Hannah Street on the 1900 Census as James BREWER and wife, Nettie living next door to her sister Delia McDaniel Hall (w/o Perry R. Hall) and mother Jennie McDANIEL. These McDANIELS were from Loudon, TN and many are buried at the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery, including Delia Hall. However, Nita's brother Charles Jackson McDaniel is buried in Lynhurst Cemetery as CJ McDANIELS in Knoxville.
Would like to find out where my greatgrandparents are buried and where Jame BOOHER was from and who he married after Juanita (Neata/Nettie) died. There were supposed to be 14 children by this James BOOHER.
Where'd everybody go?

The William you are talking about is William N. Bearden, born July 23, 1810 and died January 2, 1883 isn't it? He is buried at New Hope Baptist Cemetery in Oak Ridge, TN. I have a bit of information on his children, but his parentage is still a mystery. Maybe we can exchange information.

There were two other children of the John P. Bean and Susan Lebow marriage: Gringfeld Bean August 9, 1876-August 16, 1876 and Orlena Bean July 29, 1877-August 3, 1877. They are buried close to their grandparents John and Sarah (Camp) Bean at Ebenezer Presbyterian Cemetery in Knox County. I have photographs of their graves if you are interested.
