Anton METLER b. 9 Dec 1826 Switzerland d. 25 Aug 1893 was my great great grandfather. I'm looking for information about his family. His daughter Anna Elizabeth METLER ZIEGLER was my great grandmother. I have a lot of Metler names I've found in my Grandmother's birthdays book but do not know how they connect. I suspect Alois METLER was a cousin. He signed the funeral book of my grandfather Wallace in 1938 as did Mrs Alois Metler. I know of an Eva Washam who married a Miller. I am not 100% certain of his first name. They had nine children. All of whom are deceased. The last to die was the oldest, Reva. She passed away since the beginning of this year. Eva was one of 10 children. I have all of these childrens names in both Eva's family and her siblings. The Washams came out of Union Co., TN

I have a letter to my Grandmother from Cuba during Spanish American War. Front of letter says "no stamps obtainable in Trinidad, Quba"
"Free of Charge" signed by "Capt Hull, 4th Tenn". It has a postmark on back for "Correos, Habana, 25 Dic. 98. 10-11M". I can find no mention anywhere for a 4th Tennessee unit in the war anywhere. Has anyone heard of this unit.
It is also addressed to "Rondae, Tenn. Knox Co." Has anyone ever heard of Rondae. I was born in Knoxville and have never encountered this name. Please email. AnchorRest@aol.com

Jessie may have been married twice,he had a daughter Vola who married James Eldgeridge, and as far as I know they live in Knoxville.

I am researching this family, that basically came from Va and NC to Knox Co in the late 1700s. The Morris family came from NC to found Knoxville (William MORRIS), while his grandson (Joel Calloway MORRIS) is said to have decended from Daniel Boone's daughter Jemima.

the ABERNATHYS seem to have come from NCThe FAILINGs lived in Ball's Camp during the War when Dr John FAILING also ran a samll store and was part of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church.

I am interested in your query on the Sellars family. My grandmother was Ella Sellars of Knoxville, Tenn. I'm not sure of her birthdate, but she married my grandfather, Ben Boyd Armstrong on June 7, 1908 in Knoxville. She had a brother , Enoch, and sisters Jessie and Dora. She met my grandfather while she was working in a candy factory in downtown Knoxville.

Searching for the parents of Magaret Ann R. Veal who married William Hogshead on Oct. 22, 1833 in Knox County, Tenn. Magaret had brothers named Pleasant E., William A.G., John, and sister Mary Jane Veal. While married she lived in Anderson County, Tenn. After the death of her husband in the Mexican War (1846) she and her children, brothers and sister moved to Texas between 1850 and 1853. This is my stonewall. Thanks for any help however small.

At this point i am uncertain if this John PETREE is the s/o of John George PETREE of Campbell County. I do know the Petree Clan married into the BRADEN's of Campbell Co. but i am unsure this is the same family of Petree's.. Will Share

Looking for information concerning William F. Armstrong and Cynthia C. Stanley who were married on May 15, 1873 in Knox County, I think. My grandfather was B. B. Armstrong, their son, who married Ella M.Sellers on June 7, 1908 in Knoxville. My grandparents later moved to Columbia, SC. I think that some of these ancestors (other than my grandparents) were buried in the Macedonia Methodist Church cemetary in Knoxville. William F. Armstrong died June 18,1895. Cynthia Armstrong died Nov. 7,1893.

Searching for descendants of Sarah Darcus Purkey and Jesse F. Brown who married 1872. Jesse died in Knox. CO. 1916 and Darcus received a Civil War Pension from his record. Darcus was supposibly the daughter of William Purkey and Frankie Spoon from Grainger & Hamblen Counties.
William was my great grandfather, James Purkey's, brother. Frankie married a Tetting? after death of William and she was living with the Brown's in 1880 along with a nephew of Darcus, James Hoover.
