My grandmother Ethel ? Chadwell Howell, was born in Knoxville11-27-1892, she was
either 1/2 or 1/4 Cherokee. Her mothers name wasSarah Kathryn "Salley"
JOHNSON who was either full or half Cherokee. My ggrandmother was married to a
man by the name of Smith Chadwell(but I don't believe he is my granmothers
father) they lived inMiddlesboro, Ky. Salley Johnson was from Marshall NC and
had siblingsby the name of Nannie Kent, William Johnson and Thomas Johnson.
Thomas is buried in LaFollette, William and Nannie in Marshall, NCand Salley in

not known exactly when he moved from that area, however,he did venture through
