I am searching for info on Thomas Alexander Rowland who died sometime in the 1880's in Strawberry Plains. He was killed in a saw mill accident. His first wife, Sarah J. Bales, had died in the early 1880's in childbirth. He had remarried, name unknown. After his death, his daughter, Sarah Belle Rowland b. 1879, was sent by her stepmother to live with Thomas' brother in Donalds, SC. Thomas is thought to be the s/o Alexander Rowland who died in Strawberry Plains in 1863. Any info on the Rowland family who be greatly appreciated.

According to his obituary in 1941,he died in Alvarado, Texas and the obituary is from the Alvarado Bulletin, he was born in Knox County, Tennessee, on July 6, 1869, his name was WILLIAM MINTON ALLEN, he married SARAH CATHERINE ELVIRA DAVIS in August 1889 in Tennessee, do not know if it was in Knox County, they moved to Alvarado, Johnson County, Texas around 1891. In his obituary there is a surviving sister listed as Mrs. Buel Sheard of Tennessee. Any help would be much appreciated. I would like to have any information that might be available on the family of SARAH CATHERINE DAVIS, I believe that her Father might have went to Oklahoma.

According to a book "The Sherertz-Sherrod Family 1714-1984" compiled by James A. Sherrod 1984: "John Phillip Sherertz, the fourth child of Conrad Sherertz, Sr. and Mary Margaret Laird, was born 1 Aug 1783 at or near York County, PA, being christened on 31 Aug 1783...He moved with his father and family to Sullivan County, TN in the fall of 1798....In 1812 John Sherirtz is listed in the "Early East Tennessee Tax Lists" of Sullivan County, TN. He began selling hs land in Sullivan County in 1818....Before 10 Oct 1822, John deceased in Knox County at approx. 39 years of age...leaving his widow, Elizabeth and nine children.

The Rules were a very prominent Knox Co., Family. They did originate in Pa. but were in Knox Co., in the late 1700s. I have some Rule ancestors but am not sure how they are related to Capt. William Rule but is said he was a close associate of Lewis Tarwater, My gggggrandfather.
