David Rutherford's will--1826 or 1856?
carole stephens -- Monday, 3 September 2001, at 8:32 a.m.

According to Knox Co. marriage records, (1)David Rutherford m. Nancy Hickle on 12/15/1825 and (2)Nancy Rutherford m. William Hickle on 6/7/1827.
David Rutherford and Nancy Hickle apparently had a son, David W. Rutherford who m. Elizabeth Miltebarger on 2/29/1844.
William Hickle and Nancy Rutherford lived in Grainger Co. and had 8 children.
Most researchers think that the 'Nancy' in both marriages is the same person.
A Rutherford researcher has said that David's will was written in 1855 and proved in Knox Co. in 1856. Where can I get a copy of this will?
[Note: my line of descent is Nancy Rutherford and William Hickle. I want to know Nancy's identity and David's death date.] Thanks for any help.

YOUNG MEDEARIS HYDER
Betty Snow -- Monday, 3 September 2001, at 8:26 p.m.

I am trying to learn more about John Calvin YOUNG and Ms. HYDER and their family. There is mention in family stories of the "old Young Plantation." Does anyone know where this was or anything about this family or the Hyder family?

Children of John Calvin and his wife included:

1. Evaline/Evelyn Decatur YOUNG (1819, Knoxville, TN-1865, AR) married Wilson Frank MEDEARIS (1817, VA - 1892, AR) in 1837 in Knox Co. TN.

2. R.A. YOUNG probably was a Methodist minister and writer of several books.

Did John Calvin and his wife have any more children?

In search of "Buchanans"
Wayne Buchanan -- Saturday, 15 September 2001, at 3:40 p.m.

If I'm looking in the wrong place, I apologize. I live in Nashville and my Buchanan roots are in Posey County, Indiana. I have traced them back as far as I can and now I'm drawing a blank and can find nothing in the Tenn. State Library and Archives to "fill in the blanks."

My great grandfather was Elihu Buchanan born about 1808 and wife was Elizabeth. The Posey County records show that he migrated there supposedly from East Tennessee in the early 1830s. No date is known other than that and the place in East Tennessee isn't known either. There is no other information about Elihu's family, etc. or even about him. His wife was supposedly the former Elizabeth Parks, born about 1805, and daughter of a James Parks.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has information ... and again I apologize if this isn't "Knox County" information.
