To the honorable the general assembly of the State of Tennessee now in session

The undersigned petitioners humbly pray your honorable body to provide by law for the raising of a volunteer light infantry company in the town of Knoxville to be known as the Knoxville independent light infantry company which said company they pray may be attached to the tenth regiment of infantry of this State, and your petitioners will ever pray.
